An address labelled Binance, OKX, HTX or Gate does not by itself identify a suspect or entitle a private user to KYC data. Labels may come from public clustering, third-party databases or historical behavior and must be cross-checked against the actual fund path.
When a node becomes an investigation value point
Two conditions should be met. First, the verified loss funds reach the node through a continuous hash-supported path. Second, the exchange or custodian label has a reliable source, preferably corroborated by official deposit structure, multiple authoritative datasets or sustained behavior. A label without a path, or a path without a confirmed entity, remains a lead.
Transaction material to prepare
- The first loss transaction and the complete downstream path.
- Network, hash, asset, amount, time, sender and recipient for every hop.
- Relationships between splits, consolidation, swaps and bridge events.
- The final hop and amount entering the target exchange address.
- Label source, query time and confidence level.
- Total loss, valuation basis and incident timeline.
State a specific request
The package should state what should be preserved or reviewed, such as records related to the receiving account, a defined login and transaction window, restrictions under the applicable process or disclosure to an authorized requester. Available action depends on the exchange entity, jurisdiction, requester authority, remaining balance and platform policy.
Who can make a formal request
Requirements differ by platform. OKX’s public guide, for example, describes a channel for authorized government and law-enforcement agencies and asks for proof of authority, official contacts, a chronology, wallet addresses, transaction hashes, assets and the traced path. An affected user can organize the evidence and file a risk ticket, but ordinary customer-support correspondence is not a formal evidence response.
